What is the Mobility Fee?

Everything you need to know

The mobility fee is a legally required contribution that applies to all chargeable overnight stays for guests aged 15 and over in Salzburger Land. It helps finance the Guest Mobility Ticket, which allows you to use a wide range of public transport services throughout the province of Salzburg during your stay.

The mobility fee is currently €0.50 per person, per night. From 1 May 2027, the legally defined contribution will increase to €1.10 per person, per night.

How is the mobility fee collected?

Simple and straightforward

The mobility fee is charged together with the other mandatory tourism charges by your accommodation provider. The amount is then transferred to the responsible authorities, so there is nothing further you need to do.

Once the mobility fee has been paid, you will receive your Guest Mobility Ticket, allowing you to use a wide range of public transport services throughout the province of Salzburg free of charge during your stay.

How is the mobility fee shown on the invoice?

Clear and transparent

The mobility fee may either be listed as a separate item on your invoice or combined with the local tourism tax. In that case, your invoice will include the note "including mobility fee".

Do I have to pay the mobility fee if I already have a KlimaTicket?

Yes, the fee still applies

Yes. Even if you already hold a KlimaTicket Austria or KlimaTicket Salzburg, the legally required mobility fee still applies. The fee is independent of existing public transport passes and helps finance and further expand public transport services throughout Salzburger Land.

How do guests receive their mobility ticket?

Available before arrival

When completing the pre-check-in, you will receive your Guest Mobility Ticket digitally before you arrive. This means you can already use it for your journey on public transport within the Salzburg transport network.

Guests who do not use the pre-check-in will receive their ticket when checking in at MorgenZeit. It is issued through the guest registration system and can either be displayed digitally on a smartphone or provided as a paper ticket.

No app is required.

Can the ticket be transferred?

The ticket is personal

No. The Guest Mobility Ticket is issued to a specific guest and is therefore non-transferable. It is valid only for the person named on the ticket.

To prevent misuse, scanned tickets can only be validated again after a defined period of time.

What happens if I check out early?

If you check out before the end of your planned stay, your Guest Mobility Ticket will be deactivated automatically. As the ticket is linked to the official guest registration system, it is only valid for the duration of your registered stay.

What are the funds used for?

The revenue from the mobility fee is used to finance free travel for all overnight guests in the state of Salzburg. Additionally, the funds contribute to the expansion of the tourist transportation schedule to improve public transport with better frequency for all users.
